Essential oils are complex mixtures of volatile compounds derived from various plant species, characterized by diverse biological activities and distinctive aromas. Essential oil components have emerged as potential anticancer agents in the treatment of lung cancer. These compounds exhibit cytotoxic effects by inducing apoptosis in cancer cells and inhibit proliferation by arresting the cell cycle in many types of cancer. Essential oils have garnered significant attention due to their diverse biological activities attributed to their various constituents, including monoterpenes such as Limonene, Phellandrene, Terpinene, Verbenone, Isophorone, Carvone, Myrtenol, and Terpineol. These compounds exhibit various pharmacological effects, making them valuable in medicinal and culinary applications. Cytotoxic activity of crucial essential oil components in the concentration range of 300 µM-4.68 µM such as (S)-(-)-Limonene, (R)-(+)-Limonene, α-Phellandrene, α-Terpinene, (1S)-(-)-Verbenone, Isophorone, (S)-(+)-Carvone, (R)-(-)-Carvone, (1R)-(-)-Myrtenol, and (S)-(-)-α-Terpineol was determined by MTT assay in human lung cancer cells. In the A549 lung cancer cell line, the highest dose (300 µM) of essential oil components, % viability activity, and IC50 value results are in the range of 33.90-58.59 % and 8.94-55.31 µM, respectively. These findings serve as a preliminary framework for future anticancer investigations, revealing the cytotoxic potential of ten essential oil components against lung cancer
