Behaviour of Hazelnut Producers for Agricultural Insurance and Determination of Factors Affecting It: Case Study of Bulancak District of Giresun Province

The aim of this research is to determine the agricultural insurance status of hazelnut producers in Bulancak District of Giresun Province and to determine some factors affecting the insurance of hazelnut. It has been discussed with 138 producers. In the hazelnut production areas in the Research Area, product losses are frequently encountered due to frost, hail and wind. 97.83% of the hazelnut producers included in the research were faced with natural disasters and suffered losses. 84.78% of the producers have information about agricultural insurance, but most (60.87%) do not have agricultural insurance. In this research, the factors effective in taking out agricultural insurance were tested with binary logit analysis. The factors that are likely to be effective in the insurance of producers are; The size of the land owned by the producers, annual agricultural income, risk of permanent catastrophe and high costs.Downloads
